Parents enrolling their children into our school are expected to work with the school in supporting our philosophy and objectives. Please review our guiding statements before continuing the application.

Our admissions policies and procedures consider the age of the learners applying, the number of places available in the year group of the application and the level of English Language support needed. Entry ages are as follows:

ESL provision is available from Grade 3 to Grade 9

Enrolment is on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.

New enrolments for any year group are based on the successful completion of the previous school year.

In the first week of March, existing parents will be surveyed about their intentions to re-enrol their children for the following academic year. Parents not responding to the survey will not be guaranteed a place at school in the following year.

New enrolments will begin 1st April each year.

In Grades KG1 to Grade 2
Applications will be ‘queued’ according to date and time of complete application documents and payment of the admissions fee.

In Grades 3 to 8
Applications will be ‘queued’ according to date and time of complete application documents and payments of the admissions fee. Decisions about admissions will be made only after tests have been completed.

Admissions will be based on
1. Suitable age-appropriate records from past schools
2. English and Mathematics testing,
3. ESL needs and the school’s provision for meeting these needs.

From Grades 9 to 12
Applications will be ‘queued’ according to date and time of complete application documents and payments of the admissions fee. Decisions about admissions will be made after reviewing course options in IGCSE/A levels and ensuring that applicants have attained a good foundation for the courses chosen.
It is expected that in Grades 9 to12, students are able to learn unassisted in an English Medium Classroom.

Heads of School/Campus will make final decisions about admissions.
Applications may be referred by Heads of School/Campus to the Senior Leadership Team for further consideration.

NB: Sohar International School does not have the resources to meet the needs of learners with learning differences and severe disabilities, requiring an Individual Education Plan.
